It's all starting to feel quite real now: the baby likes Frank Sinatra and kicks when his version of Close To You comes on which is quite cute, when you consider the lyrics. (Ok, I know he doesn't understand the lyrics, just humour me.)
This morning I bought a super-cute little wooden truck from a chazza, which carries colourful little wooden blocks, so apparently I've transferred my vintage clothes hunting to toys. (Barnet's charity shops are AMAZING, 'nother blog post for 'nother day!)
The pregnancy has been quite straightforward, other than severe and weird all-over-body itching which is driving me mad. It's a total voyage of discovery, another day brings another weird symptom. Luckily my baked beans eating phase seems to have passed and now I'm addicted to granola. At least they're healthy cravings. And obviously I have a massive wine craving that is not being indulged.
Let the pregnancy oversharing begin!
"Birthing stories welcome"?! Are you insane?

Haha! Forewarned is forearmed! I also like to read aeroplane disaster stories. x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Hope it all goes well! :)
ReplyDeleteJust realised - are you having the baby at Victoria Maternity (does that even still exist?)? That's were my little sis was born. I have such happy memories of running in after school to visit my brand new little sister. Sure you'll be creating lots of happy memories of your own very soon!
ReplyDeleteHa, I knew it :-) Fab news, congratulations. Babies are ace! Top tip? You need to start reading the Mumsnet forums immediately if not sooner. Especially Am I being Unreasonable. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteNoah.
ReplyDelete(Okay, a little biased here. I have a Noah.)
Boys are lovely. I only have sisters so didn't feel like I knew 'boys' (sounds silly now I write it!) but I think they are less complicated human beings than girls (I mean this in a nice way). I also have a girl and adore her and her unique qualities too but just want to give a big shout out for tiny male humans.
:-)
Thanks everyone -- Nesty! Long time! And Natalie, no, I don't think so? Just Barnet. Haven't definitely made up my mind actually... That's so sweet about your sis. x
ReplyDeleteJust been putting Freddie to bed and thought, I wonder what's Caroline up to? and then I looked here and oh my God!!!!! Congratulations! Such wonderful news, so nice to have that first trimester over. Baby boys are great, baby toddler are hilarious. Enjoy this time. xxx
ReplyDeletehehe! thanks Sneaky!! I have been spying on you and Freddie for sure. :) You're right, the first trimester was evil, the daily random strange pregnancy symptoms have nothing on that. xx
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI was induced on a ward (waters broke but no contractions for more than 48hrs) and by the time a labour room was ready for me it was too late for an epidural. So, 2 rounds of paracetamol and dihydracodiene was all I got (Gas & air made me feel sick). If we have another baby, I will write EPIDURAL on my forehead in permanent marker! But hey, I got through it and have an amazing wee boy who's 1 next month...it's true what they say about forgetting about the pain! I recommend you take paracetamol & gaviscon with you (they wouldn't give me either without a Dr's signature (and it was a crazy busy night with no Drs to be seen!) and bank a list of happy places (Siciliy is not enough) to think about and breathing exercises to visualize. I got bored of breathing in through the roots and out through the branches of a tree. You only get to do this for the first time once so try to enjoy it all. Names, How about Mahatma?...rolls off the tongue, no?!
My holiday has meant I'm so behind with my blogs -- so a very late congratulations from me!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fi!
ReplyDeleteAnd Lisa, thanks so much for sharing, sounds like an utter nightmare, honestly! I really don't want to get induced, as in my mind if the baby ain't ready to come out it's all going to take longer. But obviously I realise I have no say in the matter. Top tip on the drugs, I'll make sure to take a stock of everything I can think of! xx
Ah congratulations Caroline! I'm so behind on my blog/twitter reading - what wonderful news! x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations--i am obviously really behind in my blog reading, i am hanging my head in shame as i type.
ReplyDeleteI think I might have said congrats on Twitter but this deserves a second congratulations!! :) xx
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!! {your comment made me giggle today ;} Happy Day to you!
ReplyDeleteI am catching up on my blog reading in some quiet time, and can I just say: WOW! Congratulations mega time! x
ReplyDeleteMy boy, Max, will be 8 in December and we are expecting our second child 1/1/13 (New Years baby, what?!)...raising my son has been such a fantastic adventure. Boys are such fun. My little guy is funny as hell and still loves to snuggle and give massive hugs. I love the boy energy and innocence. I want to bottle this age because it is a blast. Congrats and best wishes!
