Goodbye Tufnell Park.

I'm moving! After five years of living in Tufnell Park I am leaving the area. The six month contract was up on my flat and the Gentleman Caller* and I have decided to move in together. (Yay!) He lives in Blackheath in a house his father owns but doesn't live in at the moment. So, we'll live there for a few months and then get our own place. Probably back in North London.

I've never lived in South London before so it's a bit of an adventure. Blackheath is nice but quite snooty and quite family orientated. And I've already made enemies there by tweeting about how the heath doesn't seem to get used much. But it'll be nice to live in a house (with stairs!) for a while and I'll be using the big empty heath for sure.

So, it's a week of packing, cleaning and low-level stressing for me! Have some fun for me out there. And goodbye Tufnell Park! Tell me all the places I need to explore in South London, please!

*I can't use this hideous monicker anymore. His name is Tom.

  1. Enjoy Blackheath. It was the first place I lived after moving out of the family home. I was just above the barber shop facing out onto the heath. Greenwich just down the road is great too. I'm sure you'll find things you love once you've explored a bit. Happy moving and congrats on moving in with Tom.

  2. Yay for you and TOM. South London is great and I'm sure you've heard of the many delights along the London Overground. Come down to Forest Hill. We've got coffee shops, tea shops and the Stag and Bow!

  4. Only just come across your blog but I did the North to South move at the end of last year. Long time Archway/Kentish Town/Camden dweller now living in Greenwich. Took a while to get used to it (not least getting overground trains and no N29 home at the end of the night...) but its ace now. Lovely being by the park, Blackheath and the river. But yep, if you don't have a baby or a dog, you do end up kind of feeling like an outcast at times up there!

  5. South is great, I used to live in Brixton and work in Clapham. I'd recommend heading to Brixton for some lovely eats! I went to Fujiyama recently and it was amazing! http://www.newfujiyama.com/

Good luck with the move and have fun in your new place!
