Whitstable.

When you live in London, escaping to the sea is occasionally essential. Whitstable is my current favourite sea fix of choice. It's about an hour away on the train, is just quaint enough, has good chazzas to rifle through and nice little pubs next to the beach, so you can tuck into raspberry wheat beer and local oysters whilst staring at the sea. There's even a vintage shop on the beach! Sanity saving. Here are some pictures I took on a trip a couple of weeks ago. I used the GC's camera, a Powershovel Harinezumi. (Or, 'the toy', as I like to call it. They're so silly and don't have a viewfinder or screen! Has anyone every used one of these before?
Fun to play around with, anyway.) Which other places do you Londoners visit when you
need to get away?

  2. Lovely pics.

Did you have to queue for hours to get the fish and chips? And did you take a rubber ring for a dip in the sea?

  4. I love Whistable, such amazing shops! I live near there, so I go there quite a lot - the beach is also quite popular for fashion editorial shoots!

  8. Hi everyone! Ooh, Alice, you're back. *scurries to your blog.'

Liz, no rubber ring action. I couldn't believe we did that, looking at the murky sea this time! Ew.

Hi GSE! Never been to Margate! Would like to go though, and they have the new Tate, it must be getting spruced up.

  10. Vintage-on-sea sounds so cute, though I do wonder how they deal with the salt damage. I've only read about Whitstable in old Victorian-era books but looks like it is somewhere I need to visit soon!

  12. Whitstable is one of my absolutely favorite places to go and chill and eat well. Oysters at 30p fresh out of the sea, dream for many. The other beautiful place I like to visit is Rye, bit further south the Kentish coast, a very beautiful little place, I think the beach nearby is called Winchester.
