Can we all have street parties on the royal wedding day in April, please? I'm bored of it all already but I am massively nostalgic for trestle tables, red white and blue bunting, victoria sponges, old dears in their best red clothes and kids with bad pudding bowl haircuts waving tiny plastic union jack flags. How immense is this first party scene? It's the 1977 Silver Jubilee party in the
Otterham and St Juliot Hall in Cornwall.

I remember the Silver Jubilee so well. My photos look pretty much the same as yours. My mum still have the jubilee mugs we were all given. When Charlie & Di married, I camped out the night with my mum and sister, on the Strand opposite Charing Cross. At 3am we were walking up and down The Mall waving our flags! Hope you get a day off for Wills & Kate.
ReplyDeleteThese are so great!
ReplyDeleteNext time I get married I'm going for this theme.
ReplyDeleteDear Caroline, great pictures! A street party would be fun! Hope you're good. Have you found a flat yet? xx
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of getting out of london that weekend, but if you promise to do something like this, I think I'll stick around! x
ReplyDeleteLolz Liz. Oh, maybe I'll get invited to your next wedding? (WILL NEVER FORGET)
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of obsessed with these pictures. I can't stop looking at them. Imma try my best to have a street party!
Christina - no flat yet! There are just no flats available at the moment, the market is insane. Luckily I have a lovely chum I can move in with temporarily. Altho putting stuff in storage will be a massive pain. We'll see. I still have, er, two weeks. Hope you're well! *scurries over to your blog* xxx
OMG Dude! I'd met you, like, twice at Carnival before I got hitched last time.

ReplyDeleteNo, thank you Scouse Smurf! (good name.) That's you peeking behind the gate, isn't it? Love the house, looks amazing. Reminds me of a road I used to live down in Liverpool too (Alderson Rd, off Smithdown Rd, when I was a studie.)
