NW1.

I mentioned that I had started to really dig Camden in my last post. 'Tis true! I've been working there recently and on quiet mornings and weekday lunchtimes you get to see past the hordes of pink dreadlocked Italian cybergoths traipsing down the High Street. There's a stretch of Parkway that I'm particularly digging, just up past The Jazz Café. It's home to a brilliant Sue Ryder chazza, Whole Foods (slices of pumpkin pie for £1.99!) and my new favourite tea shop, Yumchaa, based in the old Palmers Pet Stores, which apparently used to sell monkeys and talking parrots. (I'm going to do a whole separate post on Yumchaa, just decided.) It's also nice to be able to go for a little stroll along the Regent's Canal at lunch. Well, on the one lunchtime I've managed to get away and do that.

  1. Ah yes, one of my favourite bits of London. That Sue Ryder shop is brilliant, their 'retro' section does make me laff.

Yumchaa! I always see it, but I've never been in. Would love to see a post on it.

  2. Ah Parkway, home to a large chunk of my life, my bank and therefore my ginormous and un-paybackable overdraft. (On your favourite stretch, The Model shop is excellent, should you ever need small wheels for sculptures as I do on occasion)and Pway also has the unfriendliest pet shop ever; they are much nicer to pets in the model shop than the pet shop. BUT that's not why I'm here..it's to tell you that our favourite offie, Drinker's Paradise is in the new Imelda May video, Kentish Town Waltz!! Yo, DP!

  3. That be the spot near Camden tube that I like the most. Can you do some investigating of the Green Note? I'm only about this area on Saturday morns and it is never open when I'm there.

Now, tell us about the wonders of Yumchaa!

  4. Hm, the Green Note? That sounds like something I need to check out, I'll report back! I love the whole little stretch, it has a really chilled out vibe, I like to pretend I'm in Portland, Oregon. ;p

Fi - you know what, I'm going to the DP and getting my Christmas booze from there. In fact I might do all my Christmas shopping there. I cycle past it every night, I'll tip my hat for us later. xx

  5. My favorite part of London. And Yumcha is great, just attracts an odd crowd every now and then.
