Summer sandals.

I can't decide what kind of sandals to get for summer. I am over gladiators, clogs are great but I can't really wear them to ride my bike. I need something flat, practical and sturdy. Are these Clarks Originals really very wrong? I think they're kind of... awesome. (I remember having tantrums over being made to wear them as a kid, as my mother will no doubt remind me.)

Edit: I did not get the shoes. I went to try them on and they were all weirdly flimsy and not flattering. So I left 'em. You can breathe again, GSE.

  1. for bike riding something with a more clearly defined heel, however low, would be better or you might find your feet slipping off the pedals at unexpected moments.

And yes, they are very wrong.

  2. Oh no! Really? I can't get them? I have a pair on hold on Oxford St to try on tomorrow. Although as I type, memories of my primary school teacher Mrs Farley's cankles are coming back to me...

  3. The memories from last time are too overwhelmingly awful...

Serious point about the bike though - I was forever whacking my achilles on the pedal when cycling in that sort of sandal.

  6. Part of me says yes, the other part say noooooo! They are bordering on the edgy hippe style which is cool, and yet I know I wouldn't wear them. Oh decisions decisions. You'll have to take a poll at the end of the day.

  7. I love them (of course) and would like a pair myself! Get them NOW. P.S. I have a pair of unworn Clark's originals sandals that you can have as they are a bit tight for me.

  8. They're great - go for it. I have been eyeing them myself. I do however remember some childhood injuries involving getting my bike pedal stuck between my toes and the sole of the sandal!

  9. I think it depends on what else you wear with them, I am sure you would be able to pull it all together.

  10. If the rest of what you wear is sufficiently ironic, these are perfect.

  11. Since you mentioned it, I remember wearing these as a kid too. I think they're cute and you can wear them with your new adult attitude and a cute striped tank dress.
