In Germany, summer of 1987, checked trousers were big. I know, because my family went on holiday there and I begged until I got a pair of pink and grey checked trousers, to fit in with the local teenagers. (Thankfully, I wasn't so bothered about going down the assymetrical haircut route.)
Anyway, my desire for check-clothed legs has suddenly returned. Inspired, I think, by the lovely lady top right. (I posted her picture before when I was craving new glasses.) I now keep seeing checked trousers everywhere. And I want some. Anyone seen any of these babies in the shops?

Ugh! Too reminiscent of the Yorkshire Cricket Club members enclosure. I reckon you've got a good chance of finding a pair at Age Concern.
ReplyDeleteTartan breeks are easily obtainable up here in tourist shops. Alternatively, Jack Wills pyjama bottoms (please, don't)?
ReplyDeleteOMG - why do I love these all so much!? I have not seen any checked trousers in the stores that don't have a hot topic label or anywhere near the cute cut of these..... but now you have competition trying to find some!!!
ReplyDeletei soooo LOVE plaid trousers on other people, but they are one of those things that i feel like i just can't pull off. it makes me sad, so i try...but i feel incredibly goofy every time i do. i think the feeling stems from the pair of blackwatch stirrup pants i had in 7th grade that i wore complete with white blouse, hunter green cardi, white scrunched socks and penny loafers. now if that isn't a hideous mental image, i just don't know what is! ;)
ReplyDeleteCool images and fantastic snowy scenes of london!
ReplyDeleteI'm from manchester and go to london every few months, i was just wondering, do you know of any fantastic little hidden away shops that outsiders miss? I've been visiting brick lane alot and was told 'beyond retro' is a great shop? Do you know of any others?
You have a great blog with inspirational images!

wearing a kilt to school everyday for my entire childhood cured me of ever wanting anything plaid- but even I have to admit these are cute. I especially like the first photo- checks and argyle together.
ReplyDeleteI definitely used to have a pair of check pants when I was in 6th grade. I think my mom had originally bought them for our dress-up box.
