2010.

I tell you something: Berliners know how to do New Year properly. (Or Silvester, as they call it.) We spent the evening in a really cosy, friendly little bar called Chagall, very close to where we are staying in Prenzlauer Berg. At midnight, everyone emptied onto the street to set off fireworks. The whole city seemed to be in smoke for about half an hour! It was a really fun way to see in the New Year. And then we had another snowball fight. I love Berlin.

Happy New Year to you all, anyhow. I hope 2010 is a great year for you. I am having a bit of a change of lifestyle this year; I will reveal more later when I am not utterly incoherent after two weeks of revelry. But for now, currywurst, coffee and a lot of orange juice are calling my name. Tschüss!

  1. I love Berlin! I spent a year there in 2001 on an exchange program. (My first exchange program was only 6 weeks to the smaller town of Goettingen, and I was obviously hooked from that first trip).

Have a great time, and see if you can find a tiny hole-in-the wall pizza place just north of Oranienburgerstrasse Bahnhof. Best (and cheapest) pizza ever.

    Happy New Year!

  2. I'm so happy you love Berlin - It's the place I grew up and I still have lots of fond memories. But in 25 years living there I've never ever ate a curry wurst... (maybe next time?) Wishing you a very happy New Year! Alles Gute! Sabine x

  3. In terms a Brit would understand, what exactly does currywurst taste like? Is it very spicy? I've had a number of trips to Berlin and like it very much but have never been able to face the idea of currywurst. Regular wurst - yum. Indian food - yum. Currywurst just sounds like sausage with curry powder. Not yum.

  4. I love Berlin too.

And the company wasn't bad either. (Except when evil Caroline, No came out to play).

  6. Happy new year! I'm intrigued by currywurst as well. And Germany in general - I've never been, but it sounds great. Also keen to hear more of this new lifestyle of which you speak. Tell all!
